About

Devon Maid Cakes

Expertly crafted, With Love.

Hello, I'm Shelley

Here at Devon Maid Cakes I am proud to create your delicious memories.
I specialise in fondant cakes and also love working with buttercream.
As long as I can remember I have always had a real passion for all things creative, whether it
was painting, sewing or model making – I was constantly busy making something.
I have always admired the art of cake making and decorating, but it all really started for me
when I became a Mum. I began to make my daughter’s birthday cakes and I fell in love.
To see how a cake can bring a smile to your face, the joy a cake can bring to any occasion is
something special – I was sold and knew this is what I wanted to do.
From this, Devon Maid Cakes was born. Established in 2021, I decided to leave my day job
and go it alone to create beautiful cakes full time.
With over 20 years of customer service knowledge, I understand how important your journey
is with me and strive to provide a great cake experience from start to finish.

Frequently asked Questions (FAQs)

Do you cater for allergies?

Unfortunately due to using GLUTEN, EGGS, MILK, NUTS, PEANUTS, SOYA and other allergens in my kitchen on a regular basis, I cannot guarantee my cakes to be allergen free and therefore do not offer allergen free cakes.

How much does a cake cost?

My cakes are bespoke and made to your individual requests, therefore no two cakes are the same and vary in price depending on the size and details required. Please contact me for you personal quote

Alternatively check out my starting prices on the ‘My cakes’ page on my website.

What flavours do you offer?

Please check out the ‘My cakes’ page on my website, a full list of flavours can be found there.

How far in advance should I book my cake?

There’s no right answer to this question, as some customers like to book a year in advance and others a few weeks.
To avoid disappointment I would advise booking in as far in advance as possible, as I can’t guarantee my availability. However short notice enquiries are always welcome, if I can accommodate the order, I can book you in.

How do I transport my cake?

Cakes need to be transported on a flat surface, either in the footwell of the car or in the boot, NEVER ON THE CAR SEAT!

Please make space in your car before you arrive. you may wish to bring something to help keep the cake in place like an old towel/ sheet, to help stop any movement while in transit.

Please remove your cake from the car as soon as you arrive at your destination – even in cooler weather the inside of a car can still get warm and effect your cake.

Do I need to keep my cake in the fridge?

No, your cake doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge, this will only dry out the cake and makea ny fondant on the cake sweat.

Please keep in a cool, dry area on a flat surface.

Can I taste some cake samples?

Yes, of course. I offer wedding cake tasters and consultations, please contact me for more information and availability.

Can I have fresh flowers on my cake?

I would highly recommend artificial or sugar flowers as many fresh flowers are toxic and cannot come into contact with food. If this is a must for your cake, I would require a list of flowers/ foliage that are intended to be used from your florist so I can check if it is suitable. In some cases I may have to refuse and suggest an alternative.
